Are you READY to save a life?

Would you know what to do if someone had a heart attack?

According to the British Heart Foundation,  the North West of England has some of the highest recorded death rates from premature Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD).

Cardiac arrest is a serious medical emergency where the heart stops pumping blood around the body.  Unless treated immediately, it can lead to death within minutes.

The diagram on the right shows the sequence of steps that together maximise the chance of survival following a cardiac arrest.

  • The overall survival rate in the UK from Cardiac Arrest is less than 1 in 10
  • Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%
  • Performing CPR early can double the chances of survival in some cases
