Emergency Paediatric First Aid

Course Outline

  • Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise actions to be taken
  • Be able to help a baby / child who is:
    • Unresponsive and breathing normally
    • Unresponsive and not breathing normally
    • Having a seizure
    • Choking
    • Bleeding
    • Suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss

Course Description

This qualification is for anyone who cares for children and babies; including parents, guardians, grandparents or people who have a professional involvement with children and babies. It is also suitable for any parents wanting to to learn vital lifesaving skills

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers must have a minimum of one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate ( 2 day course) on the premises and available at all times when children are present.

Please Note: If 100% of your staff are paediatric first aid trained you can apply for Millies Mark.

Also Note: Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.
